Businesses with turnover above Rs 40 lakh (goods) or Rs 20 lakh (services) must register. Rs 10 lakh for NE states.
Businesses can offset GST paid on inputs against GST collected on outputs — eliminating tax-on-tax cascade effect.
Small businesses with turnover up to Rs 1.5 crore can pay 1–6% flat GST without maintaining detailed records.
